One of the most influential and dynamic Gambian ladies Amie Jarju on Friday April 21st launched an extension of her business Dream Party Decor and Crown Fashions. The company which was launched in the UK about 24 months ago specializes in event planning, decoration and equipment rental. According to Amie Jarju, it took her this long to bring it to The Gambia because she was learning to establish the business and it takes time to do so. “Setting up and sustaining a business takes time. Now that I got it all sorted and stabilized in the UK, I am proud to bring it back home. It doesn’t matter where you go, home is always home. I contributed my part to my community in the UK and now I’m ready to bring it back home”.
The dream Party Décor boss who holds a Degree in Leadership and Management in Health and Social care from Coventry University all set to bring her skills, talents and experience to serve her people. “ I receive a lot of love in the UK which follows me back home, thus I can’t wait to give back to my people.”
The event which was attended by Gambians in all walks of life especially the people of West coast region was held in Farato. When asked why Farato, Amie said “I just wanted to do something different. Our homes in The Gambia are big and thus we sometimes don’t need to hire a venue to do our events. It all depends on the way you set it up.” Echoed Amie.
The event was divided in 2 folds. The first part was a free concert held at a soccer field on Friday evening and was attended by high dignitaries and performance by Gambian kora maestro Jaliba Kuyateh. The chief guests of honor was Modou Turo Darbo who donated a check of D25,000 TO Amie Jarju,
Hon Ba Saikou Jarju National Assembly member for Busumbala was also in attendance.
The night event was an elegant Gala dinner with a beautiful display of the Dream Party décor products at Amie Jarju’s home in Farato. It was attended by Amie’s loved ones both home and abroad with performances by Jaliba Kuyateh and Bai Babu. Music legend Jaliba Kuyateh encouraged Gambians abroad to follow the footsteps of Amie Jarju and come back to serve their community. “ They traveled abroad to better themselves and should be able to bring back whatever skills, talents and opportunities they learn”. Appeals the Gambian Kora star.
For his part, Bai Babu appeals to Gambians home to support the likes of Amie Jarju. “We all have a role to play in making Gambia what we want it to be. I have a part, you have a part and others do too. That’s why I came to support her event and I encourage you all to do the same.”
They both entertained the crowd by performing their best songs and interacting with them. Great food was served .
