As Tresor Fashion Guru spread tentacles in Dakar
The Daffeh twins, Aji Ndye Daffeh and Aji Kumba Daffeh, Gambian entrepreneurs and founders of Tresor the closet and beyond and L’ Excellence design fashion Shop in Dakar has unveiled a new patch work of fashion dubbed ‘ Yaye ak Baye Fall’ in honor of the late legendary Senegambian Musician, Musa Affia Ngum at a ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal on Sunday.
The unveiling of the Patch work coincided with the official opening of Tresor The Closet & Beyond and L’ Excellence fashion shop, a flagship of Tresors fashion at a colorful ceremony characterized by live band musical performance by Yususpha Ngum, the son of Late Musa Affia Ngum who passed away on Suday October 11th 2015 after a successful performance at a night club in Dakar..
Killer Ace, a Gambia Rapper currently based in Dakar also briefly performed at the show paying tribute and homage to Musa Affia Ngum.
The event which ended a couple of hours ago was attended by Gambians and friends of The Gambia in Senegal including the acting Gambian Ambassador to Senegal.
Speaking to Gambian Talents Promotion in a brief interview shortly after the launching, Aji Kumba Daffeh, proprietress of the Tresor and L’ Excellence Fashion Shop describes the event as a “success”. When asked what motivated them to come up with the “Yaye ak Baye Fall” collection, Mrs Kah said the idea behind the creation is to keep the legacy of the late Musa Ngum as well as provide some financial support to his family from the proceeds generated from the the “Yaye ak Baye Fall” creation.
“It’s an opportunity to also keep his legacy alive as one of his dream was to see Gambia and Senegal become one country. We create this patch to honor his work and style. She described Musa as a great artist who contributed immensely to towards the music industry in SeneGambia. Yes, we will miss him, but we are so glad that he brought us Yusupha who is equally a great artist. I appeal to all Senegambians to support Yususpha Ngum. For he is not only the son of a legend but he is a legend himself. ” Said Kumba Daffeh Kah after shedding some tears herself. She concluded by thanking everyone who contributed in one way or the other towards the success of the event.
Yusupha Ngum, who was the highlight of the event, did a spectacular and an amazing performance which led a lot of the attendees to drop tears of joy and sorrow as he took them down memory lane to remember his late father Musa Ngum. Speaking to Gambian Talents Promotion, Yusupha described his late father as a ‘great man’ whose legacy will always be fresh in the minds of Senegambians and the world at large. He therefore urges people to continue to pray for his Dad and keep his legacy alive.
“It is an honor to be invited here today to performed and witness the unveiling of a fashion creation for my late Dad.” Yusupha said.
Speaker upon speaker at the launching all harped praises and paid tribute to the late legend Musa Affia Ngum while praying for his soul to rest in Perfect peace.
The show was meant to pay homage and tribute to Musa for his contribution towards the Senegambian integration and the music industry.
It was attended by a cross section of Gambians and Senegalese dignitaries including the acting Gambian Ambassador to Senegal as well as Musa Ngum’s family, friends, fans and other loved ones..
