Song of the Month

Aminatta Mbow is a straight A High School freshman attending Westlake High School in Atlanta. She was born and raised to Gambian parents (Yama Joof and Alhagie Mbow) in College Park, Georgia where she still lives. She has visited and lived in The Gambia for three years before coming back to settle in Atlanta few years ago. “I did not regret going to Gambia at all and I thank my parents for it. It only made me a better person and as I learned to appreciate the goodness in other people. I know my experience in both The Gambia and US will help me for the rest of my life. I call on all kids to join me on the Baati Haleyi show” as I hope to have a lot of fun with my peers. Come and sing along with me. It’s time to learn, play and share our experiences in school and at home with our families. I look forward to meeting you on the show.” Said Aminatta.

She has served as a student parliamentarian and leader of many school base organizations in addition to winning several awards. Ever since she was a little girl, Aminatta was always interested in media and hopes to have her own radio or TV Show. She is a great writer and orator and has a large following amongst her peers who often listen to her. She enjoys Math and Science and she is currently a member of the Magnet Program for Math & Science, which is the best in the state of Georgia.
