Global Boxing Council and Combat Group's World Middle weight Champion Omar Diatta, will defend the title he won in February when he faces Turgay 'The Lion Uzun' in Koblenz, Germany this Saturday June 6th 2015.
On Saturday February 28th, Omar represented The Gambia at the Global Boxing Council (GBC Championship Boxing 2015) World’s middle weight Title against Dominik Ameri (D)Turgay Uzun in Hamburg Germany and won the belt.
In an interview with Gambian Talents sports column Omar said “this fight is going to be my first title defend. I'm not looking down upon Turgay Uzunat all. I know he's a tough guy and he's coming to fight. It will be a rematch and a title defend fight for me. So I’m excited.
When asked how he feels knowing that it’s an away game. Omar said “I look forward to a Victory. I will bring the belt back home to The Gambia. I know he also would like to keep it in Germany but I’m physically and mentally ready for him. I'm well prepared. All I need is your prayers.
Omar Jatta was born in Latri Kunda German by big tree in The Gambia where he went to school and did most of his childhood life. He started boxing in 2006 when he was 17 years old and has since then made lot of progress as a boxer.
Omar currently lives in Salzburg Austria but goes to Germany to fight. “I only come to Germany for fights. My dream is to go back home to The Gambia the place I was born and continue my boxing career. I lived in Europe since 2004 and I think it’s enough now.” Said Omar.
