The Late Lamin Kinteh Memorial Football Tournament played in Pakalinding playing ground for teams within the vicinity is back, this time with D30, 000 for the winner to take home and a giant trophy the sponsors have revealed.
Such big money prize surpassed what some “so-called recognized zones” are willing to pay the winner and thus can lure football players from the Kombos to head to the Lower River Region district of Jarra West.
According to the tournament sponsors, this year’s event will begin on 26 September 2015.
With the cash price for the winner, this is the biggest annual football tournament in Lower River Region. The runner up takes home D10, 000. Other awards include the leading goal scorer who will receive D2, 000 richer on the night of the final. The best player of the tournament will also go home with D2, 000 while the best goal keeper goes home with D1, 000.
The tournament according to last year’s organizers came calling due to the increase demand from various villages and teams in Jarra West which means there might be more teams competing for the big money prize.
In their earlier publication, the organizers said they are still open to more sponsors.
“Due to increased interest, we are therefore inviting interested sponsors to come forward and join us for keeping the legendary name of late Lamin Kinteh alive.” Said Ousman B Kinteh
